Editor's Note Welcome to the fifth issue of Scribbling Mob, a literary canvas and visual gallery of thought on the issues of women. I joined the Mob family last semester. It was only my second semester, and my lurking around campus brought me upon an issue laying on a quaint and deserted table. I'd seen her before, this rare literary creature. I sat in an empty (and somewhat lonely looking) chair and grasped her in my hands. I began to devour each page with care, and it was then I knew I needed to be a part of this egalitarian extravaganza. So, I joined on as co-editor and watched the wonder begin. I saw a wonder of beauty and creativity coming together. In a small way, I almost felt like a co-creating Goddess of sorts. Then, this semester, they turned over this marvelous creation to me to care for, to nuture, and to further. So, I took the colorful bundle into my arms. So, for now, I'm a Mob Mommy. I think I did well and left a bit of my thoughts and wisdom within her. Any Mommy (even a surrogate one) wonders if she did a good job as she sends a child into the world. This beautiful egalitarian creature will prosper, I think. Thank you to all the staff and supporters for your efforts in bringing this issue into the world and helping it grow. My first experience in feminist literary motherhood has been a wonderful one. -- Callie Elizabeth Butler, Editor in Chief |
